Nascar and Rural Hill Pictures- Enjoy!

We had a wonderful weekend at Rural Hill and at Lowes Motor Speedway.
The maze was great but was muddy. Brittany and Lauren decided to brave it alone concerning the Maze. She likened the maze to finishing a calculus Test, I am so glad that Maria was our leader; i think i lost Kevin and Kasey a couple of times in the Maze; If I was the leader, we may still be in that field  I still wonder if I brought the right children home with me?

Nascar was a real treat. Tim, Eduel, Steve and myself began our trek into redneck heaven by visiting the 20 plus trailers of merchandise surrounding the speedway. Lots of freebies and contests to participate in at the trailers. Steve decided that he needed to be generous to my children by purchasing hotwheel cars of Kevin Harvick. I told him i could win some freebies for the souvenirs but he insisted. Steve my children have shouted out a BIG THANK YOU for the gifts! Once we finished perusing the trailers of merchandise, we proceeded into the speedway itself. We were fortunate to be on the back stretch of the track between turn two and three. We evidently sat in the old folks section, Steve mentioned we may not get all the nascar culture due to our seats. Since the old folks are pretty sober and a lot less rowdy. Though Eduel did take in the culture of a cuban cigar, as the man next to him seem to be lit up the whole race. Before the race, Tim and I were wondering if the bellies would appear. Thinking it was too cold, we believed they would not show themselves this evening. But around lap 200, a few brave bellies did show there faces. Unbelievable, 30 degrees and the bellies were out! The race was an experience to behold, fast moving and very loud. I have likened Nascar to NBA Basketball. The last five minutes of the game is all you need. All the excitement is near the end. With ten laps to go, their was three different leaders due to three caution flags. Jimmie Johnson ended up winning the race and most likely will win the Sprint Cup Series. Overall it was a good time!

A 49er

In the upcoming weeks, we plan to launch a ministry to UNC CHARLOTTE. Over the last month we have be organizing, and petitioning students to start Cross Impact. Pray for God’s leading as we begin this ministry to the 49ers.

Taking in the Culture

Saturday will be a day of culture. At 10:30 am, a group from crossview will be taking a trip to Rural Hills Farm in Huntersville NC. This farm is owned by the renown Davidson Family. We plan to navigate through a corn maze, purchase a pumpkin, take a hay ride, and tour pre-revolution housing of the Davidson Family.

Later in the evening, I and three other brave souls plan to take in the fumes at Lowes Motor Speedway. Thats right i plan to see the glamour of NASCAR. Check next weeks posts for pictures. Should be fun!

Getting an education

I thought it was all over on May 13, 2007, the day I graduated from seminary. Only to find out two years later that I am back at the education thing. No, I haven’t signed up for another degree; that would be insane. Over the past 6 months I have been learning from many schools.

The most recent school that our family enrolled in is that of the Boy Scouts of America. Growing up my experience with the Boy Scouts was through friends and family. I attended one camp outing as a youth and a few meetings but was not really exposed to the fulness of scouting. This summer, we decided after the persistent invites of the Tate’s, a family in the church,to try it out. Since our first camp out in September, I have grown to appreciate the Boy Scouts. I would highly encourage you to get involved; It is a great way for your child to learn life skills, and the Scouts will assist in developing of character. So far Kyle, has achieved his Tenderfoot ranking. Needless to say He is excited about the new friends and skills he is learning with the Scouts. Dad has learned a couple of knots, so old dogs can learn new tricks.

As well, this past September i visited some of my old stomping grounds. This was unfamiliar territory for Melanie and Kasey, but with a little faith they too came to school. Over the last year, we have been learning much about Autism. Kasey was diagnosed this past May with Autism.  A great place to learn about autism is www.autismspeaks.com. On the website, you can get a free 100 day kit from the organization, the kit is used to help a parent, families and friends understand Autism. Since the day of diagnosis, Dr. Stegman gave us direction on helping Kasey develop. One of his recommendation was to enroll Kasey in public school. This would help Kasey to develop relationships beyond those of his family; Plus the resources in the public school would enable him to attend occupational therapy and speech therapy. Ironically, many of the items mentioned in the 100 day kit were started before he was diagnosed. We are grateful for God’s wisdom in helping us parent Kasey.  This schooling hasn’t been an easy road for the King’s. Yet, we are confident in our God that He will direct us as we nurture Kasey.

This year we decided to reenroll in the King’s Way Christian School. This school has one teacher and three students; how is that for teacher to pupil ratio.  I am thankful, that I am principal and dad to this Christian School. Since, Melanie resigned from Presbyterian hospital, she has dedicated herself to being an educator and a stay at home mom. She is elated in teaching Kyle, Kimberly, and Kevin. This year, we moved from DVD learning to lecture learning. The children really have enjoyed the switch and are progressing academically. This past week, we attended our first home school conference in Waynesboro, GA. The Maxwell family were our teachers for the two day conference. They were extremely helpful on topics concerning a vision for homeschooling, homeschool schedule, resources, skills to be developed, and spiritual disciplines for homeschoolers.

Lastly, I am still working toward my Doctorate in churchplanting, if their is such a degree. This education has been brought to me by God, Pastors, and those of the congregation of Crossview Baptist Church. The church is now 6 months old and is in hot pursuit of Jesus Christ. Currently, we are learning that to be a leader we must be a great servant. Our ministry is developing before our eyes. God’s is sending people to us each week. It seems that God, had given us many junior high children, so we are developing a ministry to youth for them. As well, i have now taken on campus ministry at UNC Charlotte.  Every Sunday, Joseph Han and I have been praying, talking, and pursuing students at the University. Our goal is to gather a large amount of signatures from those interested in ministry at UNC Charlotte. We hope to start a Bible study this month. Joseph was led of God last week to lead one student to Christ. In this churchplanting education, i am pursuing to teach other churchplanters in this journey.  I would love to see another churchplant start in two years from our church.

Well thats all for now, hope this little blog will encourage you to pursue the education that is before you. God surely has some lessons for all of us to learn in the ministry he has called us. Will you enroll? It will be well worth it!

Charter Service

Below are photos of the service. I will add more photos when folks pass them on to me. As well, Our newsleter can be opened that will detail the service.

Crossview Charter Service

Baptismal Service

July 26th was Crossview’s first Baptismal service. Kyle King, Kimberly King, and Barry Robinson were baptized at Concord Bible Church.

Monster Truck- Hold your ears

We have now been approved to be locals in Concord. This past August, Crossview Held their first youth event at the Dirt Track. The teens and even a few adults really enjoyed the show. I still feel that Tailgator got robbed but that is an another story.
I was unsure how Kevin and Kasey would do going to a loud and late event; thankfully they had a blast! So when you are in our neck of the woods next year, give us a call and let us show you some carolina culture!

Charter Service this Sunday

This Sunday will be an exciting time for the church family. We will have a special service constituting the church. I plan to preach a message concerning the ministry of Crossview Baptist Church. At the end of the service, We will invite all those desiring membership that have professed faith in Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion to sign the charter for the church. The afternoon will conclude with lunch and a testimony time. So if in Concord, drop in and enjoy the festivities; It should be great time!

Verse by Verse in the Epistle of James

We are now exploring the epistle of James on Wednesday nights at 630 pm. The theme of the book of James is the evidence and development of Faith in the life of a Believer. Each evening we have a time of fellowship and prayer. The group study focuses on in-depth verse by verse Bible study and relationship building.

Children, Music, and other stuff

Tonight will be the beginning of establishing a ministry to children. We plan to meet at the Dilworth Coffee shop at 7pm to discuss the forming of a nursery, and childrens church for Sunday Morning worship. At the meeting we will talk about philosphy, policy, procedures, and a rotation for these ministries.

I am now touching up on song leading, as the Ambassador crew is heading home for the summer. We will now be working toward having our own group to sing and minister during worship services. I am recuriting fellow laborers to help during the month of May and June. So if you have the ability to sing or play an instrument, give me a call! I asked Dean Gagnon this week to sing for mothers day, he was not to fond of the idea? I dont know why? I thought it was a “fabulous idea”!

Lastly, we are teaching each Sunday lessons concerning the doctrine, desires, and direction of Crossview Baptist Church. The purpose for these lessons are to give information, receive input, and gain an understanding of what Crossview is and will become.
